Understanding FHA Loan Limits (USA)
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) sets loan limits that define the maximum amount you can borrow for an FHA-insured mortgage. These limits vary by county and are adjusted annually to reflect changes in housing prices.
Why Do Limits Vary by County?
FHA loan limits are tied to the conforming loan limits set by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). In “high-cost” areas (where median home prices are elevated), the limit is higher. In most of the country, the “floor” limit applies.
